Naturopathy is an approach to health care which aims to promote, restore and maintain health.
As a Naturopath, I abide by the following underlying principles:
There is a ‘vital force’ or ‘life force’ which drives the self-healing or self-correcting mechanisms of the body. Supplements, drugs or other therapies merely assist the process, or potentially mask the problem by stopping or inhibiting the body’s natural functions.
All systems of the body are interlinked – true health is a collaboration of mind, body and spirit. You are more than the sum of your parts. All systems are interlinked and are dependent on one another for total harmony. Therefore, dysfunction in one area invariably leads to disruption elsewhere.
You are unique: People are genetically, bio chemically, structurally and emotionally different from one another. Each person has strengths and weaknesses that are either inherited or acquired. We each responds in a unique way to outside influences
Acute disease processes are different from chronic disease. The acute response is the body’s attempt to restore health often through enhancing the processes of elimination.Suppression of such healing processes contributes to the potential for chronic breakdown.
Prevention is preferable to cure. Seeing a Naturopath when healthy, can ensure that you stay that way.
What you can expect from me:
To provide you my full attention and to work with you and focus on your body’s self-correcting mechanisms or efforts to maintain homeostasis.
Please note that it is important that you do not stop taking any current orthodox prescribed medicines without consulting your GP.
I am happy to work with GP’s in order to assist with your health.
